I thought she was japanese this whole time bc band name and  can you make me breakfast in bed? And when I wake up in the morning will you give me lots of head?  This is my first audiobook I actually listened to the whole thing.  I feel like there is a lot of trauma here she still hasn't fully accepted as trauma while the whole book is about trauma until the very end.  Probably the only memoir Ill ever listen to .  I felt like I had to since since last year  I listen to japanese breakfast everyday.  Especially heft and sweet sounds of a distant planet. Hits me so hard. I actually never knew they were this popular like 20 million listens on spotify popular bc I never heard of them spotify reced them to me one day. All the listens are from me.

Why I tagged as sexual assault: i forgot what that thing kakashi does is called but she was like its not sexual assault and procedded to respond to being on the recieving end like if it were sexaul assault. It is also not an isolated incident.

I didn't stop this book because there was anything wrong with the book. The writing is visceral and powerful as is the story. I'm just not mentally in a place to read it.

Wow....I cannot even fully express how much this book impacted me, changed me, and how much it means to me. It felt like a truly beautiful celebration of the life of her mother, as well as something so personal and vulnerable to her and her grief that I found myself at times completely stunned. The writing is absolutely incredible and the descriptions of food, simple moments, and her feelings had me in awe. As someone with a Korean parent, the way this managed to capture the very specific type of affection within Korean culture, as well as so many other beautiful aspects to it, made this so incredibly personal to me. I saw my aunts in this, my grandma. It was devastating but in a way that makes you love everyone around you so much more. If you have the chance, PLEASE give this a read.
