This series has quickly become one of my favorite must read series. Jenn McKinlay is a such a terrific writer and I think the series just gets better with each book. The author has such a wonderful writing style that she draws the reader into her world and surrounds them with such a great story line, wonderful characters and a solid mystery that you never want to leave. Whenever I pick up one of the books in this series I know I won't be disappointed and I will be transported for a few hours to visit with characters that are starting to feel like old friends.

I have really enjoyed all of the books in the series, but I think this one is my favorite so far. It is well written with wonderful characters, a strong mystery with plenty of surprises and a great setting in the hat shop and London. Jenn McKinlay has created a wonderful series that does not disappoint and is highly entertaining. If you haven't read any of the books in this series, I would encourage you to give them a try. You won't be disappointed.

A full review will be posted on my blog January 20th (http://peggysbookshelf.blogspot.com).

Another fun Hat Shop Mystery! I was disappointed Alistair wasn’t in it much but relieved Viv’s story progresses. This crime was well planned out and again the relationships within the crime, added to the depth of the story. It’s fun to learn more about the London culture and bonfire night. Despite working with several people from London, I had never heard of this holiday.

To be honest, I question the viability of a hat shop in 2017, but that's not keeping me from enjoying this series. I very much enjoyed it. I didn't figure out the culprit until it was revealed, so that's always a plus. Now I'm on to the next one!

I always look forward to a new book by Jenn McKinlay, and this one did not disappoint!

I noticed that Scarlett's parents moved to Briar Creek, so I'm hoping for Hat Shop Mystery-Library Lovers Mystery crossover book.

I predicted the murderer way too early on and I just wasn’t really feeling this one.

Guy Fawkes masks are terrifying and what better way to hide a dead body than to cover his face and set him up to be the effigy burned on the British holiday? Once again Scarlett is there to witness the event and the dead man happens to be someone whose advances she fought off in front of a crowd with the help of her suitor, now the prime suspect.

Jenn McKinlay strengthened Scarlett's motivation to involve herself in this mystery in this installment. The previous book was about a potential client accused of killing her boss and Scarlett just had a feeling she was innocent. This book has Scarlett determined to prove Harrison is innocent, one, because she knows he is and two, because relationships are tough enough without one of them being in jail.

We also get to learn more about Harrison's surprisingly impressive job and workplace, and his ex-fiancee. The regular crew bands together to prove Harrison's innocence, leaving Fiona Felton to yet again mind the shop. Poor Fiona - she always wants to go on the adventures.
