Well written but for a novel that's presented as current day the science is too far-fetched. Maybe in 20 years.

I was looking for a synopsis of this book (I remember only a few scenes but the feeling of thrill and excitement I got from it has really stuck with me) but I was also expecting that, after over a decade since I last read it, the plot would seem imperialistic and islamophobic. I haven't actually re-read it but I'm pleased to find the terrorist in this was apparently a white guy, though the pre-2001 publication date explains that.
