but this is real life, my life, and it's quickly becoming more of a tragedy than a comedy.

the ending while unexpected was so bland. they could have done so much with it. like this wasn’t really a mystery/thriller. it just felt i don’t know it’s hard to explain but i don’t think ill be reading any more of this authors works unfortunately.

Grace leaves a networking event early - rather than using her reserved hotel room, she returns home. To find her husband inside another woman. Seething with anger, Grace locks the couple in the cabin, at the edge of their property.
Dominic and Camilla fight against panic - and each other, as reality sets in. Dominic had the cabin created as a secure workspace - they can't get out.
While Grace ponders her next move, the reader is granted insight - into Grace's childhood as well as her marriage.
Intriguing, well written domestic thriller.

The part that I enjoyed most about this book is the ending. I found it pretty decent. Otherwise not much happens and things are very predictable. Basically the synopsis is 80% of the book.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for allowing me to read this book!

With thanks to the author, publishers Bookouture Audio, and NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy this audiobook in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Grace comes home unexpectedly from a work do, hoping to surprise her husband Dominic, but instead finding him in the arms of another woman in the cabin in the backyard. Her reaction is to lock them both in the cabin, while she apparently tries to figure out what to do next. However, we soon realise that all may not be as it seems with Grace, and that this may not be her first time holding someone captive against their will.

I enjoyed this one. The story kept moving forward, it never felt like it dragged for me, while Grace herself was a flawed but likeable character that I found myself rooting for as things developed.

One bone of contention … while it is plausible that a purpose-built cabin like Dominic’s, designed with security in mind, might be pretty impenetrable with its reinforced windows etc, I thought it was a bit of a stretch to also believe that two adults, starving and desperate, would not be able to escape from what appeared to have been a regular riverside shed/hut. That aside, I thought the plot was very well woven with plenty of twists to keep the reader guessing. I also thought the back and forth nature of the story telling, both between Grace and Dominic in the present day and also back to different points in time in both their lives, was a very effective way of allowing the story to progress.

Hats off too both narrators on a job well done too!

Super easy short read. It definitely had me rooting for the main character, and then completely switched who I was rooting in the end. The story was told from different characters view points. Which sometimes I don’t really like, but this book keep it interesting.

At this point I am just going to be reading all this authors work. This book hooked me from the beginning and didn't let go. I finished it in less than 2 days. I loved the premise and how it was done. I liked the flashbacks as well. Although I liked this book, I thought the ending was a little lack luster. Again not bad but not really what I was hoping for.

Thanks to NetGalley for the review copy!

Whoa!!!

I mean I have no words...definitely still on the edge of my seat!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The back and forth, the suspense, the pace at moving the story along. I didn't see that coming

Insane this book is. The only way to describe it is that revenge is best served cold. From the very first page, Daniel Hurst grips you with a chilling narrative that never lets go. It's crazy how you can live all your life with one person and never truly know them. This book made me realize how, despite years of shared moments and memories, one revelation can turn your closest companion into a complete stranger.
A story where every chapter peels back another layer of deceit. The characters and the plot twists are nothing short of mind-blowing. Just when you think you've figured it out, another twist that leaves you questioning everything.
It is a rollercoaster of emotions and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.
