This wasn’t at all what I had expected. I went into this book thinking there would be more interaction with ghosts and like able characters. I found neither of those things. The main character, Zora, sees ghosts but can’t hear them or really speak to them besides asking very simple questions. Zora was awful. I had so much trouble feeling bad for her. Additionally, it felt like the author thought of every way possible to make her characters weird/unique and threw it into the story. It felt like a mess. None of the characters were relatable whatsoever.

This book was a lot of fun! I found the characters much more likable than those in Eliza and her Monsters.

4.5 stars. You might have to look past a couple of things to accept it, but I was willing because I really enjoyed it.

The first 100 pages or so were just not very engaging and I almost stopped reading. I'm so glad I didn't because the last 2/3rds were fantastic. I hope there is a sequel some day!

For a wide number of reasons, Francesca Zappia books have become a comfort go-to. The kind of read that I pick up when I just want to be relieved from my own thoughts for a minute. For this reason, I'm very biased when it comes to reviewing this book. Truth to be told, I didn't love it. Personally, I found that it had too many characters and that almost no one of them had been given much depth. Even the main characters were kind of stereotypical. The plot itself was very simple and yet so much complex at the same time. It left me with more questions than answer, a matter which, to be fair, was addressed in the last few pages. I'd love to read a sequel to get to know this world a bit better.
I almost forgot, it has actual, on page asexual representation! I'm not surprised, given the context in which this author was recommended to me, but I think it's the first time I find out about the representation by reading the book, and not just knowing beforehand
