Riley has been kidnapped by Kai Bennett who is searching for his missing sister, Brooke. Riley and Brooke had been roommates at school when they were younger but lost touch over the years. I have to say that I really enjoyed the first part of the story. There was a lot of action and you didn’t know who you could trust, what’s the truth and nothing was as it seemed.

My main issue was that Kai and Riley are supposed to have to tense past history but we really didn’t get an in depth view. I would have preferred more of a backstory so I could feel the hate and disdain these characters have for each other.

Overall this was a very exciting and action packed read and I really liked a lot of the secondary characters. I hope one day in the future we will get a novella about Brooke, Tanner and Jonah.

I couldn't say why, but somehow I knew. I hated the main character.

DNF.

I really hate leaving reviews like this. First let me say, I know this author is better and I’ll keep reading her books but this one was so boring. Honestly, I had a hard time reading and I finally gave up at around the half way mark when another random ridiculous event occurred. In my opinion, there was no emotional angst despite the expectation there would be. Kai and Riley didn’t have any chemistry. Characters’ personalities weren’t what they were written to be. Please read and form your own opinion.

Mafia books are so not my thing, unless written by Tjan. This book was amazing. The plot, the pace, the chemistry, it was all perfection. Ijan has done it again, make me love a genre that I wasn't sure I liked to begin with. She has the ability to tell a story and spin a tale that draws you in and holds you hostage until the very end. Lust, suspense, hate, love, all of it is at play in this story.
I found this book not just being mafia, it's a thinking game with this book. You read it, but it's not mindless pleasure, you need to think when reading this and pay attention, and I love that. The detail that is in this book, the thought process that went into this story had to be meticulous. Love or hate mafia books, this one is a sure fire read. Story is told in first person pov.

Completely obsessed with this book! I wish there was a second one too follow it up honesty really left me wanting to read more about the characters.even if they end up going back and telling me more about what happens between the story and then the jump to the end ( which usually only happens when they are done with it and not making it into a series. Either way I was completely entwined into this book, I didn’t put it down every night I fell asleep to it, but not before reading as much as I physically could before my eyes closed.
Seriously amazing book.
The beginning traps you into their world, you dive quickly into wanting to know what comes next. You beg them to tell you more, and they eventually do. It’s not like a lot of other books where it’s just all sexy and Mischievous hot love scenes. I enjoyed it because the storyline was amazing, and the sexy scenes were just a great add on!
I would totally date the main character (male) how he’s described, in sweet detail of corse makes you drool. The female, the main character in the story makes you want to continue reading and has you rooting for her the whole time. Absolutely amazing story and book overall. 5stars. Which is tough coming from me because I’m an extremely harsh critic!

Tijan mafia books are probably my favorite. This is another solid book from her and though it was a little messy it was still good. I did it find it hard to believe Riley was a trained anything. I would definitely recommend this book.

A lot of things piss me off. Very few actually make me want to shoot my brains out. Even fewer make me want a slow and painful death. This book made me wish for a slow and painful death. Total waste of time and energy

Final thoughts
This was intense. I didn't like Kai at first but the chemistry and the heat between them you can feel straight away. Its dark with the death and murder but its also light with some twists thrown in. I was pleasantly surprised and I'm excited to read more from this author!
