This book helped me with a reading slump. No romance or stuff that would remind me I’m struggling with social matters. Just an orphan involved in an adventure with an interesting variety of fantastical creatures, and the power of friendship. I really enjoyed it.

So berührend geschrieben!

This is a fun read aloud. It's long, so it took us months, but you know how some books are written with language that just doesn't flow well? This one was written to read aloud. Isabel loved it and was engaged consistently throughout. A fun quest story that wraps up beautifully at the end.

I love dragons so I wanted to read it.
It took me like half the book to get into the story but after that I really enjoyed it.
It's an adventurous journey with many different magical creatures.

I have been "reading" this book since Grade 5. That's not to say it's a bad book, but as a kid I had a hard time following it. It just so happened it ended up one of those books I never really finished after pausing for a week then forgetting.

Yet, here it is. On the bookshelf in my bedroom. Asking; pleading with me to finish, though I never do.

Needed to make room on library shelf. Read when kid and loved, maybe too young for right now.

I absolutely loved this book. It just made me remember how much I love Funke’s writing (Inkheart is one of my favourite books!) A little thing that bothered me a bit though was how fast-pasted the book is. I found it quite hard to get into it at the beginning. If it hadn’t been like that though the book would have been even longer than it already is (+500 pages for a children’s book). I guess this solution is the best. Apart from that I can only say that it’s great and very warm-hearted. If you like Funke’s writing and imagination you’ll love this book as well. If you haven’t read any of her books I strongly urge you too because her stories are marvellous!
