i think it’s time i put my thoughts into a proper review for this one.

for one, i bought this book completely based on the fact that i love the idea of a book that mixes two things i really like: a) romance b) marine life; so the idea of having whales and centering the plot around a little coastal town in australia (which is also a country i really wanna visit) is completely right up my alley. That being said, those factors are completely overshadowed by a not-so-boring but still quite slow story and a set of UNBEARABLE characters, to the point where i had to fancast a favorite actor as the male lead to even stomach the idea of following his conflict in the book.

Mike Dormer would be the perfect male lead if i was into cheaters and liars that end up completely redeemed, gets the girl, his dream life, and a fulfilling job. He’s bland, lacks morals, and is a complete pushover that doesn’t know what he wants unless what he wants is some new girl not interested in him while he’s an engaged man.

Liza is maybe the most unbearable character of all, she’s annoying, she completely lacks self awareness, will let everything happen so she doesn’t get out of her comfort zone, and honestly? I GET IT! I get all the motivation behind her actions, thing is: she’s so obnoxious about it i was constantly huffing and puffing and rolling my eyes.

Those two old farts… don’t get me started on them. How are you 76 and you still don’t know if you want to be together with a teenage years sweetheart who your father didn’t let you date? Especially considering the fact that HE CHEATED ON HIS WIFE with you and you two clearly want to be together? Just annoying.

The boat people were mostly nice, except for the fact that one of them was literally this

The beginning was a little slow for me, but turned out to be a good summer read! Moyes is a great story-teller.

Another good one from Mpyes who I alway find to be a reliably good author! One of Moyes' skills is great character development. This would make a great beach read.
