Really great material. A great summary of attachment theory.
I wasn’t a huge fan of the social theory (alphas/betas). Also, why was nothing cited in this book.

A mix of neuroscience and new age. An excellent primer for anyone who wants to learn more about the psychotherapeutic process.

I enjoyed the book as it walked me through why therapy works as well as why my mind thinks in certain ways. I started to psychoanalyze some loved ones and felt more sympathy for them as our experiences do truly effect our mentality in the long run. I like how the author often treated the reader as a therapist in training. I didn't like the wording in some areas where it felt as if the author was saying, people NEED us the therapists, but I do believe we'd all be better with therapy.

lots of interesting information about ... why therapy works.
I agree with other reviewers, the concept of alphas/betas didn't feel relevant or useful for me (or evidence based etc etc), so I ended up skimming that chapter. otherwise, some very interesting notes on neuroscience. I appreciated the sense of hope regarding how much someone can overcome and our continued capacity for insight and change.

I love a book that demystifies a thing. This brief book gave me good insights into myself and what I've experienced in therapy and has helped me consciously and deliberately reframe the stories my brain tells me. Definitely worthwhile.
