I liked the first book of the trilogy, but I loved this book. It digs into so much politics while keeping up the action and adventure side of things. We got a look into Hail's life as a gunrunner, watched her struggle with the weight of her current responsibilities, and learned more about so many supporting characters. I cannot wait to read the third book and find out how this story rounds out. My only small complaint is that it seems like the major characters have a notable amount of plot armor.

Yes I totally adored this book! I cannot wait for the next book.

Its a high flying, fast paced, action packed fantasy set in space. The world building is awesome. I got super attached to a couple of characters really fast. There was more backstory and so much action. Hail totally got to be a gunrunner again and it was amazing.

I have two tiny piffles. This is a large cast of characters, most of which have a title and a name. So a lot of the secondary characters *coughbodyguardscough* come in and out and I don't remember them. Also court setting, so lots of important small characters. I would have adored a brief list of people with names and jobs. Second you must read the first book [b:Behind the Throne|28118539|Behind the Throne (The Indranan War #1)|K.B. Wagers|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1463566588s/28118539.jpg|48129333] for this one to make sense. I don't love a whole chapter devoted to catch up but it makes it hard to recommend except to start at the beginning. Which is where you should start any way.

Lovely book. Cannot wait for the next one!!!!

Great second volume in the Indranan War trilogy. This book picks up right where the first volume ended, and I continue to love the world building, characters, and plot. In this book, Hail, the main character, gets to use her gunrunner skills to delightful ends, and we get to meet some of her old gunrunner pals.

Unlike many middle entries in trilogies, this one doesn't lag or feel boring at any point. It's definitely part of a larger story, but it also has a definitive end.

Wagers is an excellent writer and knows how to use fresh descriptions to make her sentences stand out when they need to, something I really appreciate in my SF. This is an all-around great series, and I can't wait for the third book!

Really love Wagers second book in the trilogy. Full of adventure, great characters, a fast moving story that kept me turning the pages, mystery and love thrown in with friendship to create what is fast becoming one of my new favorite series.

Really enjoyed this, but found that the pacing in some places was a bit off kilter for me personally. Would still definitely recommend. Looking forward to the third book!

Non-stop action

Good, fast-paced read. Picks up right where the previous novel ended, and the characters and action don’t pauses all. May cause late nights as the reader stays up to see what happens next.
