I got this book on a whim at the library…it was definitely a little heavier than a typical rom com book, but I really enjoyed it! I loved Jo, Alex, and all three teenage girls.

I was really intrigued by this book. To me this book circled more about the main character dealing with the death of her nephew, badly. This frustrated me, then the way she dealt with the romantic aspect of the book frustrated me as well. I read this book because I wanted to read the second in the series and now, I don't want to anymore because it was pretty obvious how it ends up.

The kids were the smartest people in the book, basically all adults made me side eye until the kids taught them their lessons.

I thought this was going to be a straight romance after I read Ruiz’s “Last Call at the local”. It has romance In it, but I would say it’s really about family and grief, and love just happened on the way. Very reflective and deeper than I expected. Not bad, just more emotionally invested.

I was going to give this book 3.5⭐️. But then I ended up crying and was like..hm, maybe this book did deserve 5⭐️ from me afterall.

This book flew with its own pace. There was nothing exciting about the plot at first. I mean..a woman trying to complete her bucket-list before she turns 30, while also dealing with grief and loneliness she didn’t want to admit. That did sound like a typical plot you could find anywhere, right?

Ye, I thought so too. But then as stories and adventures unfolded, I just found myself dumbfounded by how much this book affected me emotionally. And also how uniquely this book was told. Her summer spent with her nieces, her list, her romance with this hot guy she met at a club one night who turned out to be her neighbor and her co-worker, her friendship with Nina. And most importantly, her relationship with her own self and her grief. And wow, that was one hell of a summer well-spent.

It was predictable, sure, and a bit much on the coincidence side when it came to Alex, but on top of everything, it managed so stay so..raw and realistic. I can’t find the right word to describe what I felt when I read this book. And this review doesn’t make any sense but all I have to say is, this book just charmed the hell out of me and I love to add this book to the list of books which I’m grateful I read.
