It was SUCH a delight being back in this steampunk, fantastical world of Cairo, that also represents other African and Middle Eastern cultures. I gotta hand it to Clark for such magnificent worldbuilding in a novella. It was funny, adventurous, and suspenseful. I love the agents at the Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments, and Supernatural Entities and I will read whatever shenanigans they are up to. Not to mention the full-length novel Clark is coming out with Fatma as the MC?? I live. And while I did love A Dead Djinn in Cairo a bit more, this was still a lot of fun.

One of the few books that has made me laugh out loud of late. I love his sense of humor, his characters and the supernatural world he's created in 1912 Cairo, and that he weaves into his universe a women's suffragist movement.
