This book takes what we learn in the first book and build upon it with an ending of did I just read that. The ending leaves reader wanting the next book for sure over all I found my self wanting to listen to the audiobook and that ended came from left field

Solid second instalment in the trilogy! Doesn't have the problem that some second books do where they're just filler books; this section of the story was fast paced and full of plot twists! The characters are relatable, even if they're gods, and I like Blake's style of writing.

One of those books I bring to the bathroom because I can't put it down. Athena is an amazing protagonist, complicated and great and ah Odysseus I wish that she could've given him a chance...

Cassandra seems underdeveloped. Her initial hatred of Athena for bringing the war to them and 'killing' her I get. But she just ends up being hard on Athena 100% of the time and pretty much abuses Athena. It doesn't make sense. Her hate is so over the top and uncalled for. I dislike her more than Achilles.

Achilles definitely made everything more interesting. Like an intensifier.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and now I'm going to request my library order the next copy.

4 out of 5 stars

It has been a long time since I read the first installment of this series and during that time I have read The Iliad. Although you can read the series without knowing too much about Greek mythology, I felt like I got a lot more out of the story because I knew the back stories of the characters more thoroughly.

I enjoyed the action and the relationships between the characters the most, which I feel was thanks to Blake's excellent writing style. It is just easy to read and flows nicely. I really appreciated how each of the gods' deaths were symbolic, for example.

The big thing that bumped down the rating for me was Cassandra and Athena. I don't really know the reason why they hate each other (besides the fact that Cassandra is a god killer). Their petty disagreements got on my nerves because they could have been avoided.

The ending was kind of a cliffhanger, so I am looking forward to reading the next installment.

HOLY HOLY HOLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

The cliffhanger at the end :( :( :(

I had better expectations for this book, and I was sorely disappointed in most aspects. I wanted MORE plot exploration!!!!!

To be honest, half of tbe story could've been left out. I feel like this book was a filler book, and that the next book is gonna hit us like BAM!!!

Looking forward to the next book!

We'll give it 4.5, and a bonus because I love Kendare Blake's writing. While I liked the first book better, I had a great time reading it and definitely didn't see some of the twists coming. The story was a little slower but filled with a lot of character development and new characters like Ares, whose character took a turn that I wasn't expecting. There was a lot more romance and some great moments between Hermes and Athena. I really liked Cassandra in the previous book, but in this one she drove me crazy with her anger. I get that she doesn't like the gods and is angry at Athena, but it was almost too much. The action scenes were great, the horror was creepy and unique, and the ending was insane. So in the end, this sequel was intense and broody and angsty and romantic, and will lead to one hell of a climax. Can't wait to read it!
