Feminist fairy tale retelling? Here, take my money! I bought Girls Made of Snow and Glass on its release date, I was so excited to read it. It’s a twist on Snow White, with a stepmother who is more emotionally damaged than heartless, and her rival for the throne, a stepdaughter made in the image of her dead mother, the woman the king still loves. The two women’s stories are told in alternating timelines, and while I have to admit to having a favorite (Lynet all the way), the way the two strands tie up together in the end is sublimely satisfying. Lots of depth in the relationships the characters have and in their understanding of who they are (and how that changes). This book is like Galentine’s Day, “just ladies celebrating ladies.”

¡Yey! He visto muy buenas críticas de esta novela y tenía muchísimas ganas de leerla, aún cuando me daba miedo. Este es un magnífico retelling de Blancanieves y, no sé, tampoco me moría de ganas de leerlo. Hay muchos de estos... ¡Pero lo adoré!

¡ESTE LIBRO ES TAN INSPIRADOR! Es un retelling queer sobre este famoso cuento de hadas que todos conocemos con un romance LGBTQ+ y muchísimas cosas grandiosas. A comparación de la historia original, Girls Made of Snow and Glass es un cuento donde la princesa y la madrastra no se odian, sino que su relación es complicada y apasionante y adorable y complicada pero al mismo tiempo llena de amor. La historia de Blancanieves en este libro es MARAVILLOSA, pero hay mucho más a eso. Corazones de cristal, chicas hechas de nieve, magia, secretos, traiciones, un mundo precioso, muchas mujeres poderosas e increíble, mucho #girlpower y protagonistas épicas. Es un gran libro, en serio, con el poder de decir mucho de una manera muy sencilla. Personalmente, lo encontré de lo más inspirador. ¡SE LOS RECOMIENDO MUCHÍSIMO!

Mis únicas quejas son que Girls Made of Snow and Glass no tiene trama en sí, sino que es un libro impulsado por personajes y no por un conflicto. Y ese tipo de libros no son los que más me gustan... Y son de los que menos atrapan. No hay mucha construcción de mundo de parte de Melissa Bashardoust, es un poco lento y la escritura no es nada sorprendente. Aún así, esta lectura fue tan mágica que afdgfhrgtj DEBERÍAN LEER GIRLS MADE OF SNOW AND GLASS.
