Earlier this year I'd read Without Mercy by Lisa Jackson and rated it only a 3/5, because I was so dissatisfied with the novel. It completely turned me off from Lisa Jackson. The only reason I picked up this series is because it takes place in Montana, my home state. In the beginning, I was reminded of why I hated Without Mercy so much--it's so SLOW! The first half of this novel was really slow, but it got much more interesting about halfway through. With 25% left, I was on the edge of my seat. This book was phenomenal!!!

SPOILER ALERT!!! If you do not want to read a spoiler, please do not read the next paragraph!!!

What made it so exciting toward the end is that detective Regan Pescoli is kidnapped by this twisted killer. Then the book ends! We're left hanging! So, I immediately picked up the second one in the series, Chosen to Die, to figure out what happened to Detective Regan Pescoli.

If you love a good thriller, definitely pick up this read. Montana is always a great setting for an exciting, action-packed thriller. It will have you on the edge of your seat!

I was a little leary about this book at first. I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. I do have to say that it starts off with a bang. There's no question to it. It lures you in and makes you want to find out who is doing all these horrible things.

There are numerous twists and turns and right when you think you have everything figured out, Lisa Jackson throws you for a loop and switches everything up until you're left clueless and wondering once again.

This book is so suspenseful and carefully planned out that you can't help but to continue.

It's a crazy ride I really want to get into the second book just so that I can figure out what happens after that insane cliff hanger that you're left with in the end.

Zane MacGregor was oh so sexy. He was funny, sarcastic, intense, loyal, strong, intelligent. Honestly, much as I hate to say it, despite the fact that I loved him, there were times when it seemed like he could be the killer; I hated that because I totally love him and I was utterly relieved when it was confirmed that it wasn't him so I wouldn't be waffling back and forth anymore.

I liked Jillian Rivers' character, even if she did play right into the killer's hands.

I loved Regan Pescoli; I think she was my favorite character of this book. I love that she was a hardass and a badass. I felt bad for her, though, because of her sucky home life: her kids pissed me off, her ex-husband Lucky pissed me off (I wanted to beat him when he told Regan that he was taking the kids and they were moving in with him). I mean, she was a single mother who was not receiving child support and had a demanding job that she had to keep up in order to be able to provide for her children and they all treated her like she was the biggest bitch. I got all teary-eyed when the killer shot her tire and I started freaking out because she wasn't able to get out in time.

That serial killer is creepy and I need to know who the hell it is. Right. Now.

Honestly, I never thought that mason was the one luring Jillian to him. I thought it was Aaron. I never suspected it was his creepy second wife.

I hated when Regan and Selena were interrogating Macgregor. No one believed him and Jillian.

I also hated when Brewster blamed Jeremy and Regan for everything that happened with his daughter, Jeremy, and Jeremy's friends.

Loved this book! I wished for a more satisfying ending though...

I enjoyed this, even though it wasn’t all that deep. This was my second time reading this so I already knew ‘who dun it‘, although I had forgotten a surprising amount of information about the ending. I do remember loving the ending when I read it the first time and I still did this read through. I have access to the rest of the series now so will be reading the next instalment.

3 Stars - enjoyed, will (possibly) read again.
