one of my favorite poems (invitation) is by Mary Oliver so I've wanted to read a few of her collections for awhile but I was afraid it would be the type of poetry that was hard to understand. I finally read these and that couldn't be further from the case. There were a few I had to read more than once but for the most part they were easy to understand. A lot of nature vibes and at least in these two collections several references to her doc percy. I'm going to share a few favorites from each book.

"But I always think that the best way to know God is to love many things."

I love Mary Oliver, but I find her later books less inspiring. They feel more repetitive. This one engages with the Iraq war & her own aging, so a more melancholy tome.
