This was the latest audiobook I listened to with the kids. I remember loving this book as a kid and it was still entertaining as an adult. However, I like the first Fudge book better.

The kids of varying ages are enjoying this series enough that they asked about listening to the next one too. A fun perk of the audiobook is the author reads her own work!

I read this book in the 1st grade. We got a point for every book we read, and then when we got 10 points we got candy. Mrs. Pichatelli only gave me 10 points for this book, which I thought was a royal rip-off as others were reading picture books to get their points. Looking back I should have gotten more, come on I was in the 1st grade!! I love this book and even did my book report on it at the end of the 1st grade.

UPDATE: Read it to Ike and Ozzy who are also in the first grade. A little too mature for them (and probably me at 7 years old). I stopped reading when they started discussing the big guy in the red suit that comes every year in December. I didn't want THAT to be the reasons that the magic is ruined for my kids.

So I listened to this on audio, and Judy Blume read it herself. It was so funny! Of course I had read this as a child, a million years ago. But I didn't remember how hilarious it was. I especially loved Fudge's friend Daniel, and his constant refrain, "You wanna make somethin' of it?!" Just a delight to listen to, highly recommend it for something fun to listen to. I bumped up my rating from four to five stars. I'm going to re-read (or re-listen to) all the others in this series.

I remember reading Judy Blume when I was younger and while I wasn't crazy about it, I enjoyed reading her books. All grown up and I find that my taste in books has not changed a jolt. So although I enjoyed some aspects of the book, such as Fudge and his funny lines or his silly ways ( I especially enjoyed when he put stamps all over his little sister) I found a lot of it to be easily forgetable and predictable. I also felt that it was out-dated in parts. For example, tapes were mentioned and the "new" law about picking up after your dog. I felt that for my book group of 9-12 year old girls, this would be too young. Knowing how grown-up these girls tend to be, I would suggest this book be for 8 to 10 year olds. Also, as it is a mother-daughter book group this book would be for, I want more female leads that the girls can identify with. Needless to say there are not many of these in the book, barr Peter and Fudge's mother.

So overall, while I found this book funny at times, I felt it wasn't right for my particular group so it will not be used. However, I would reccommend this book to those children who have younger siblings they often complain about- they will be grateful they don't have fudge as a little brother after reading this!

yaampun, kayaknya beneran lagi suka sama buku-buku middle grade. font gede, kisah sederhana tapi lucu, tapi menyenangkan, tapi mengharukan--kadang-kadang. ini juga.

"You mean you're pregnant," I asked Mom.
"That's right," she told me. "Almost four months."
"Four months! You've known for four months and you didn't tell me?"
"We wanted to be sure," Dad said.
"It took four months to be sure?"

"You like the baby?"
"Oh, yes... she's just adorable."
"You can have her for a quarter."

What a fun book to read aloud to the kids. They giggled and giggled at Fudge's antics. Can't wait for the next one.

A funny, light-hearted story about dealing with changes in your family--new sister, new home, new friends.

Even though most of my kids seem "too old" for this book, everyone enjoyed it. There were plenty of laugh out loud moments. We read it as a read aloud.
