This is not an easy read, not a long read but not fast either. The forms and formatting worked for me. It's not meant to be a poetry/prose divide in any traditional sense, but rather I found it fit the movement of the pieces/story. It breaks what would otherwise be very hard to digest. There is a lot of terrible here, a lot of difficult, but all captured both bluntly and genuinely. No pity, no feeling sorry, just life, and life is hard.

Truly stunning. I got so wrapped up in Yrsa I found myself wanting to scream and cry (well cry did happen) poetic masterpiece.

Mostly free verse, not my favorite; some memorable passages, imagery. Incrediblely honest, blunt memoir. Eye opening.

charged coming-of-age memoir that is the kind of beauty of splintered glass. wish i read it some years ago, but then again i'm not sure a younger me could've handled it very well.
