This series really could have ended as a trilogy. The choice to change dimensions feels like a cop-out to reverse some permanent decisions made in the last book. The love interest isn't dead anymore and this world has a Time Police force as the big bad, not to mention betrayer Barclay is also alive again and at large. It's like the author realized there was nowhere to go in the first world she built so she sent to MC to one that is only slightly different. I really don't care about the ambiguous decision made at the end because the proof is that no matter what they chose, there are still 10 more books. They're going to get roped back in one way or another. Plus the romance relies on the characters' devotion (which does feel genuine), but I'm not sure I see the chemistry.

As usual Jodi Taylor gives you a book and demands payment for reading it by ripping out your heart, making you feel every emotion and then hands it back to you on the last page when you are sleep deprived from being up all night turning the pages as quickly as possible to find out what’s next. And somehow that’s truly wonderful!
