The author's writing style is a bit confusing at first, but when the reader gets the hang of it you get kind of used to it in the long run. I also found her writing style quirky, since it's a bit different from the usual styles I encountered which start in a simple way or in a poetic kind of way.

Different character POVs were actually depicted in the book whilst written consistently in the 3rd person, shifting from one character to another might also confuse some readers since the POVs were written in a mixed-up manner within a chapter instead of having them in different chapters.

As for the story, it's a mix of emotions, especially for Euridice, our main protagonist in the story where her brilliance is something you wanna cheer her on but towards the end, you can't help but be sad for her. The diverse characters quite depict the realness of people in life, especially with the culture itself set in the 1950s where there are some similarities with the Filipino culture itself in terms of marriage, family, and women being domesticated rather than having their own careers despite them being smart or ambitious and so on. There are characters that readers might love and hate but at the same time when you read more with the POVs, you can't help but understand and have that AHA moment why this character/s is/are this way. The way they were written was just so real, even the ending felt that way. It's not some fairy-tale type of story.

Also, I liked how a "marites" was depicted in the first few chapters because it really hits home to what a "marites" does, and the reason why this "marites" became one.

Overall it was a medium-paced read with a roller coaster of emotions. I would recommend this to those who want a quirky, historical read with diverse characters. This has a movie adaptation and though it was critically acclaimed, I think its atmosphere is quite dark based on the trailer which contrasts the book's way of writing (although there really were depictions of that in the book). But anyways to each of his own.

Niech ta zimna okładka was nie zwiedzie, bo Niewidzialne życie to powieść bardzo ciepła i zarazem gorzka. Euridice i jej siostra Guida mieszkają w Rio de Janeiro w połowie XX wieku.

2017 Read Harder Challenge: Read a debut novel.

i accidentally chose the spanish edition of this book and when i tried to remove it it also got rid of my review so here i go again

this book follows the story of euridice, her sister, and the people of their town/country.

the way this book is written is that the story begins with euridice, then if euridice crosses paths with somone, the book beings talking about them. and then back to euridice, then to other people she meets.
when euridices sister is introduced, we get to know the story of the people her sister had met.
the book usually takes around 10-20 or so pages talking about a person, it goes into such details about their life that it really makes me doubt if this book is fiction.

really enjoyed this book, i picked it up cause the title starts with "the invisible life of" which reminded me of Addie LaRue and i joking read it and it was an amazing decision.
