Je n'ai aucune difficulté à voir le génie de Rabelais, mais ce roman a été si déplaisant à lire que je ne peux lui accorder plus de 2,5 étoiles. C'est un jugement tout à fait personnel et il concerne surtout la façon dont je me sentais quand je lisais ce roman, alors n'hésitez pas à le lire pour votre connaissance personnelle!

I started off hating this.
It has merit, I'll agree to that.
It has good thought/strong opinions on war and religion, and war on religion, through its endless satirization of the two.
The story, characters, and plot are funny and gruesome in part but it can also be overstuffed and annoying at some longer passages.

Likely the best 16th century French novel I've ever read. Naughty and bawdy and laugh out loud filthy.
