Yay Marius and Rake's story! I've been looking forward to their story, and once again, A.J. Lancaster's voice and characterizations win me over. It took me a while to get over Rake's dickishness, but his charisma won me over eventually (as I knew he would!). I felt like Marius and Rake were a good match in the end.

This book is fantastic! It practically sizzles!
When I was originally introduced to Stariel, this was the book being recommended. While I enjoyed Hetta’s story, I will admit that it wasn’t my favorite. THIS was my absolute favorite of the series. Marius is just so fun as a character, I loved the exploration of how closeted the human world is compared to the very open/accepting fae world, and there’s a little mystery in there too!

This was a really interesting story! I enjoyed the mystery and the fantasy world (despite not reading the previous books in the series), as well as the romance that was woven throughout.

Although I still want more of Irokoi's character I loved this book and am sad for the series to end. The dynamic of the characters was the best part, it also was a nice contrast to the murder mystery. The fears about both characters harbored about their perspective relationship overshadowed the mystery, but added a nice touch of reality to the fantasy aspect of the story which I think made the story especially magical in a way. No matter mortal or fae romance and love is daunting to face.
