I reread Sabriel on a whim, remembering how much I loved it in middle school. It’s even better than I remember.

I would have loved this as a preteen/teen. A necromancer female heroine on a quest to find her father and save the world? Right up my teenage self's alley.

This is a great book that takes the fantasy stereotype of the necromancer and twists it into something positive. The world created by Garth Nix is unique one that juxtaposes a medevial-esqe world with that of a WWII period, all seperated by a great Wall.

I've known about this book for a long time, but never read it. Now that I have, it was OK. Not much of the magic was explained and I really didn't get to know Sabriel on a deeper level. I may read the next book in the series, if the mood hits me.

I love this series! I have listened to the audiobooks and Time curry reads them so well. His voices are perfect for the characters and lending realism and weight to the story.
