Delightful vignettes from Dahl's childhood. Very conversational. Felt like hearing the stories of childhood from an old friend.

Timeless and magical, with somewhat gruesome scenes alternating with family stories, snippets of history and random facts. My 9yo was just as enthralled as I was at the same age.

I have been struggling my way through a book, unable to keep focus and finding myself having to re-read passages. Then I switched to Boy and the pages just flew by. Roald Dahl crafts a magic with words, telling stories that are vivid, hilarious and moving all at once. He is astonishingly good and reading his history, you can understand how such an unusual start to life led to his wonderfully unique view of the world. The seeds of his later stories are very much apparent and it has made me want to re-read his entire back catalogue. Going Solo next!

Good quick read, love Dahl’s way of story telling. Totally captivates the audience and you imagine that you are right there with him, experiencing the adventures too.
