Oh my god.

What a story.

The dynamic between Jax and Elena was great, they had great chemistry and I really enjoyed their banter back and forth. I liked that it was a little bit of a slow burn. Got to say that I think Jax is my favourite so far, he's multilayered and has some real problems happening and ultimately he's trying to save a lot of people from being hurt while dealing with so much pressure in different aspects of his life. Elena's backstory wasn't what I was expecting at all but it really did work well. She was also a cool character who was trying to deal with her own things just in a different way.

This book had some really cute and funny moments but also pulled out some absolutely devastating moments as well. I don't want to spoil anything but certain parts really tugged at my heartstrings and it didn't always go the typical way you would expect. The level of selflessness, unreal.

Loved Jaxs family so much and Caleb as well as an addition. They added so much to the story and they were funny and lovely and honest.

Finished it within a day and it was so worth it.

although this book was quite a lot heavier than the previous books in the series, i really enjoyed seeing deeper and more serious topics discussed in the books, and thought that it was very interesting and important to see coping mechanisms be thoroughly discussed as well. i thought that it was very sweet how elena and jax were there for each other throughout all of their own battles, however it did make me very annoyed to see
how he dealt with his diagnosis and used elena’s own fears and vulnerabilities against her
(even though i do understand his thought process, i thought that it was incredibly hurtful).
p.s: this isn’t really about the book, but it was very clear to me - as a british person - that the author was american, as the way they did jax's ‘british accent’ made me cringe so much 😭
