End of Games concludes the Darth Vader series from 2015-2016 which gives us Vader's story between Episode IV: A New Hope and Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
There are some key moments in the series including Vader's obsession with Luke Skywalker after learning he is his son and Emperor Palpatine's machinations following the destruction of the Death Star.
End of Games sees the culmination of Vader's conflicting missions with his orders from the Emperor sometimes at odds with his own personal agenda.
Gillen's writing of the characters is spot on and LaRocca's artwork is suitably cinematic, action packed and emotional. Some flashback scenes as Anakin loses himself to the dark side coinciding with losing parts of his body to be replaced by cybernetics are truly heartbreaking.
The cast of supporting villains and characters that Gillen has created or utilised is inspired. Dr Aphra, archeologist and robotics specialist is resourceful and you're never sure whose side she is on. The murderous droids 000 (Triple Zero) and BT (BeeTee) are humourously lethal, dark versions of C3PO and R2D2 given a vast array of weaponry and a delight in killing. There's also Black Krssantan, the dark furred and super strong Wookie, and a host of clone droids.
And then throw Vader against enemies like Cylo and Voidgazer and watch the sparks fly.
The Vader of Empire has evolved from the Vader of A New Hope, some changes being quite subtle, and this series does a fantastic job of giving one of cinemas ultimate villains the limelight and character growth he's due.
The force is indeed strong with this series. Welcome to the Dark Side.

Tras escapar de los rebeldes, Aphra se refugia para escapar tanto de los rebeldes como del imperio, y sobre todo, de Vader. Pero 000 y BT-1 tienen la misión de encontrar y llevar a Aphra para ser cuestionada por Vader.

The epilogue to the series setting up the ESB timeline. Greatly enjoyable and rewarding by showing Vaders inner struggles and challenges as well as his evil character. Overall great series.

Vader is the Boss!
Such a great extension of the original trilogy. Loving every issue, and can’t wait for more from these great creators.
