This book really suffered because of the translation. The writting is very much hit or miss but I've heard that it's because of the expressions and words in Japanese that just don't tend to exist in other languages.

Also there's quite a few mistakes in here, both those facts make the reading g experience kinda tough.

All in all, I think its a decent book but I don't think it'll be one I re-read. It didn't quite capture and hold my attention as I read and I found myself skipping over some descriptions as it sometimes got too repetitive. Also if you want to enjoy this book you will probably have to get past the first story which is clunky and genuinely hard to get into, the stories improve as you progress.

If this book wasn't hyped so much, I'm not sure i would've continued past the first story. The writing is really simple and clunky, and it really bothered me. The rest of the stories are much better, but overall I don't think it lived up the hype. It's such a cool concept and I did enjoy the stories but the writing style just wasn't for me. Unsure if I'll pick up the sequels.

I liked the idea behind this book. But the book itself? Not so much.
The writing felt a bit stilted and I am not sure whether it was because of the translation or the original book was written like that. Also I couldn’t bring myself to care much for the characters since we were jumping from the pov of one character to the next. Plus the book was short and didn’t focus too much time exclusively on any one character. So while their stories were told, we moved on before being attached to them.
All in all this book tries to be profound and impart these big lessons about life but these lessons failed to leave an emotional impact since the writing was so stilted and the characters quite one dimensional and underdeveloped.
The Miracles of The Namiya General Store did a better job.
