I'm sure this book will be fine, but I am SO BORED. I legitimately don't even care about anyone or anything in this book except that the mom just lets her daughter go to a foreign country without her to meet a father who is ROYALTY? And also, why is it that this royal party is like "Yup, you're the princess" without first making her take a blood test? Maybe they do it once she arrives but I feel like that would be something she'd need to have done for legitimacy purposes.
Anyway, the book so far is just so slow and nothing really stands out. I can tell this will be a 3star read and I just don't even want to waste my time.

Cute, heartwarming, funny, fluffy romance, commoner turned to princess. Perfect book to pick after a heavy read. It reminded me of the Princess Diaries and Crazy Rich Asians the whole time, enjoyed every bit of it. Everything I could ask for in a YA romance.

This is a delightful YA read! It’s like The Princess Diaries - Japan edit, complete with press driven stories and mean royal relatives!
Izumi is an awkward, not so popular teen slugging along in California, until she finds a poem that sends her on a journey to meet her father.
Fun and witty you will find yourself cheering for Izumi to forge her own path amidst her newly unfolding world.

I loved this book. I read it in one sitting because I could not put it down. The setting, the food, and the characters were so excellent.

Izumi "Izzy" Tanaka is content being average. She has a tight group of girlfriends (the AGG or Asian Girl Gang), some favorite haunts in her hometown of Shasta, CA, and a single mom she adores. Ready to graduate and attend the local community college, Izzy stumbles on a secret her mom's been keeping for eighteen years: Izzy's dad is none other than the Crown Prince of Japan. This, of course, makes Izzy a princess!
Izzy has always felt out-of-place in her mostly white community, and she travels to Japan with the hope she'll feel more at home in her own skin. However, she's a foreigner there, too. She's unfamiliar with the customs and the expectations of a member of the Imperial Family. Plus, her father seems frustrated by her missteps, and her cousins are haters. Being a princess isn't all it's cracked up to be. An illicit love affair with her broody, sexy personal bodyguard makes it all a bit more tolerable.
As the Japanese paparazzi pick apart Izzy's princess potential, she must decide for herself where she belongs and what she's willing to fight for.
I loved Izzy and her AGG friends. I loved the fact Emiko Jean dropped me in Japan and I had no trouble picturing my surroundings. I loved the audio version. I loved the sweet, happy feel of the story. A perfect summer read.
