Another delightful book in the Cupcake Bakery Mystery series. Great mystery (though easy to solve), fun characters, and some good funny moments. An enjoyable read!

First I was pissed at Mel’s indecision about Joe but the ending slayed me. So the only thing I have to gripe about now is the murderer’s confession. I really hate those.

This murder/mystery has the cupcake bakery front and center in a murder at a pageant contest. This stories mystery is much more central to the series main characters and their close acquaintances. As a reader reading the 6th book in the series I am definitely invested in reading the book at this point and of course you start to love the characters, feel a part of their inner circle and therefore are more drawn in when you are waiting to figure out how the ending is going to affect the most important people in the story. I admit that a 7 hour audiobook on 2x's speed can be finished in a very short afternoon/late evening with no problems. My husband can tell you that as I finished the book I tore my earphones off and told him it was the worst book ending ever!!! 1st "cliff hanger" type ending in the series and honestly, I don't have the next book anywhere on hold yet and that's frustrating. Overall, this one might have Mel saying the same thing over and over again about her relationship with Joe which goes a bit overboard for me, but I appreciate that life decisions really do take time.

I love this series!! maybe it is the cupcake recipes but I think the characters have a lot to do with it too. Angie, Mel and Tate are a trio not to be messed with, and they have added to their little bunch a few extra people like Oz and Marty who work in the bakery with them.

The mystery line is well written and as usual, I didn't guess who the killer was until this person was revealed. Jenn does a great job of interjecting humor into the story and I was cracking up at how the 3 men that are interested in Mel referred to it as the Order of Mel and giving themselves numbers as to where they ranked in her interest. I thought the ending was going to turn out differently but it leaves a great cliffhanger for the next book.

Definitely a must read series!

the love story between Joe and Mel hits the upmost irritating tone in this book. the whole time I'm rooting for them but Mel keeps shooting him down, and when Mel finally gets it together joe walks away. the way the characters are written I don't believe for a second Joe would actually walk away. the murder was a backstory to everyone's relationship issues in the book, I actually started to forget what the plot of the book was about. this series is starting to become annoying.

This was a fun book and way better than the previous one in the series. It was great to get to know some of the minor characters more. The ending has a twist that I didn’t see coming and I definitely want to get my hands on the next book.

This series is so easy and fun to read that I've been reading them in a day (on the weekends) and sometimes two. The characters, both main and secondary, are well written and I just connect with their friendships as well as the shenanigans. This series is very character driven and focused so often the mysteries tend to take a backseat to the personal lives of the characters. I tend to like a more balanced book, but these characters have just stolen my heart and frankly I just want to find out what is going to happen. I think the author does a good job of winding up one story but leaving the reader with a cliffhanger so that they will come back for the next book. Lucky for me my library had them all for me to check out so I don't have to wait to see what happens (yet), I can just pick up the next book.
