It’s Harry’s 4th year at Hogwarts! This year the Triwizard Tournament is brought back, when 1 student from each of the 3 largest wizarding schools in Europe are selected as champion to compete against each-other in 3 tasks. The winner receives the Triwizard cup and 1,000 Galleons.
During the ceremony the Goblet of Fire chose the 3 champions. Viktor Krum from Durmstrang, Fleur Delacour from Beauxbatons, and Cedric Diggory from Hogwarts. Once all the champions have entered a room away from the crowd, the Goblet of Fire spits out another piece of parchment…with Harry Potters name on it. This causes an uproar as there has never been more than 3 champions, and Dumbledore purposely set an age limit of 17+ that was supposed to be impossible for the students to get past.
Throughout the book Harry struggles with the states from his class mates and wonders who on earth purposely put his name in the Goblet. During the game, Harry and Cedric become close as they help each other solve clues and figure out the next tasks. During the final task, a maze that has many creatures and spells to get past, Cedric and Harry decide to grab the Triwizard cup together as a joint win.
I LOVED THIS BOOK. It was a little sad how Harry and Ron were fighting for a lot of the book, but it was still amazing. I was super sad when Cedric died. I really liked him and wanted to see more of him. Knowing he died after doing a noble act of a joint win with Harry was devastating. This series to definitely starting to get dark now.

Goblet of Fire sets the scene for the dark future that awaits our cast of characters - and it does it well.
There are an abundance of things that I enjoyed about this novel: I loved getting to learn more about the other schools in this installment (their differences are intriguing) & I enjoyed the new characters that we met along the way!
The future is looking pretty bleak (SOS).
Goblet of Fire sets the scene for the dark future that awaits our cast of characters - and it does it well.

Easily my favorite book out of the Harry Potter series so far. In the end, everything was tied up perfectly. The story has amazing foreshadowing. This book is where it starts getting darker in the series. Although sad, I love a bit of a dark element in a book. It did take a while to read, that’s probably my only con. However, it’s a big book, so I can’t complain much there. I loved how we got to see Harry’s character improve over the book. I loved how the last chapter was realistic, too. Harry said how he couldn’t remember much from the days after. In traumatic events, that’s often the case. I love how they had a logical reason for why Harry could defeat Voldemort, too. A reason that wasn’t purely because he was the main character. I feel like the books are much more detailed than the movies. Like in the book, Dobby gave Harry gillyweed instead of Neville. I loved the books more overall. I can’t wait to read the rest.
