This is the kind of gentle, slightly mysterious yet sweet book that my mother loved. I think she would have especially loved the setting - stories set in England were her favorites. Unfortunately, that's the only thing that detracted from the story for me - many of the phrases and descriptors that are most likely common jargon in England were unknown to me, and I had to go look them up! I don't remember this happening in other "set in England" books, and I found that it slowed my reading of the book.
Other than that very minor annoyance (which is quite likely a reflection on my personality, not the book), this was a lovely story and as one other reviewer stated, would have been enjoyable in warmer weather in the garden, or on the deck, or at the beach.

A beautiful and powerful book. A story about a man's love and a journey through grief for his family.

I loved this book. The only thing I can think to write is "Love endures all things".

Riveting, mysterious and thoroughly enjoyable. I liked getting to know Leonard, I thought he was a dear old man that I'd love to have for a neighbour :) Fiona Robyn is a master of delicious detail, her writing is gorgeous and her characters so finely drawn.
