There's a shortlist of authors that are automatic reads for me. All it takes is for their name to be on the cover and I'm in. Katherine McIntyre is firmly on that list. No matter the storyline, genre, or trope, if KM writes it, I'm gonna read it. And there is a very good chance that I'm gonna love it. Such is the case with Waking for Winter.
This is the fourth book in the Philadelphia Coven Chronicles and it brings the series to a close, so it was bittersweet for me. I hate to see the series end but I'm excited to see what the author does next. The series has been full of danger, adventure, terrific characters, and off-the-charts romance. For this final book, Cami and Dante get a second chance love story, and you can't help but root for them to get that happy ever after. I've loved every couple in this series, but I think the banshee and the necromancer may be my favorite.
It seems no matter how many books I read by this author, I'm always amazed at the detail in the world she creates and the development of her characters. This is a series of fierce heroines and the men who love them, of supernatural baddies and edge-of-your-seat action, of family, friendship, and love. This book, like its predecessors, is wonderfully written and everything I look for in an Urban Fantasy.
If you're not familiar with the series, I'd recommend starting at book one to get the full experience. The series may have come to an end, but it's one that I'll be revisiting from time to time.
