I don't remember getting so angry at Bunny for stealing Ed's watch, and not giving it back, when I first read this volume, but boy did I get angry. I guess that's an example of great writing?
I also think that's it's a really great point to have the flashback to when Ed and Al first learned alchemy. There's enough references to their teacher to intrigue you, but not enough that it's annoying and you stop caring about the Elric brothers' background.

Izumi gets a lot more page time for characterization than in Brotherhood, and we're seeing flashbacks to Ed and Al's childhood in a lot more detail too! I was kinda meh on continuing the manga because so far the anime had followed it so closely, but this kind of extra detail is exactly what I was hoping for.
