The start of this book didnā€™t pull me in as much as I hoped. Jagger and Josephine have known each other since childhood and one night they met again at a party. They talk, they flirt, I think it was her who asked her to sleep with her and they had sex. It was off the page so yeah, since the book is basically about that I was hoping for more details. Itā€™s also her first time.

Fast forward, they found out they are both renting the same apartment. Yeah, again, weā€™re thrown into the situation. I didnā€™t know much what happened years (?) ago when they slept together but they donā€™t like each other. I wouldnā€™t say they hate each other because frankly, thereā€™s nothing to hate. Sheā€™s avoiding him (not as much as I thought from the blurb of the book), they make an agreement to sleep together and they do. Basically, not a lot of conflict in this book and when the ā€big oneā€ came I wasnā€™t really impressed. I do think they could have communicated more and that Jagger should apologize for what he did. However, ending was pretty quick too so if youā€™re interested for a book to pass time, this one is for you.

But if you want enemies to lovers feeling, this one wasnā€™t really it.

3.5 stars.

It isnā€™t enticing enough. And I feel Iā€™m not in the mood for college romanceā€¦ well not this kind of college romanceā€¦Ā

I fell in love with this amazing sports romance, Josephine and Jagger's story was what I needed after diving into very dark romance books. Jagger the popular football star got to my heart and soul. This enemies-to-lovers second chance story will be one you will enjoy, it will hook you from the start and won't let you stop until you reach the very end. It has some angst and drama, but it's sweet and romantic. Will have you smiling at the end.

Josephine and Jagger have know each other since they were kids because their parents are friends. Jo is still hurting from a bad breakup and isnā€™t looking for a relationship, especially with an athlete. Jagger is a football player and only does casual hook-ups. They both end up renting the same place for school. Jagger has always been into Jo and is still hung up from when they had a hookup earlier in college. He didnā€™t think heā€™d ever be enough for her and so she ended up dating someone else. He still doesnā€™t think so Andersen though Jo is into Jagger, their parents are friends and Jo worries if they donā€™t work out, theyā€™d still have to see each other all the time and itā€™d be awkward. So, they decide to enter into a casual relationship.

I loved Jo and really wanted to punch her ex in the face, quite a few times. He really didnā€™t deserve her and she was put through a lot because of him. Jagger is sweet and the reader sees just how much heā€™s into her and you just want them to get together. The end is super swoony too.

There were miscommunication issues that were a bit annoying, seeing as theyā€™ve known each other for years, but overall I enjoyed the book. I love when families are involved in books because it gives more insight into the characters and will usually provide much of the comic relief.

This was my first Iā€™ve read by Claire Contreras and Iā€™m interested to see if more will be in store for Jaggerā€™s brothers.

I was gifted an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was lucky enough to get an early copy of this book and am so thrilled I did.

Another one done in less than 24 hours!

There are some authors that you love so much that whatever the plot of their book is, you know youā€™re going to read it because you just know already youā€™ll love it. That is the case with my love for Claire Contreras and her writing. There is not one book of hers that Iā€™ve read and have not loved.

This book, The Heartbreaker, was exactly what I needed in my life right now. I recently finished a pretty heavy, dark book and while thereā€™s a time and place for that and I usually love them, thereā€™s so much darkness in the world right now that it was just incredibly refreshing to read Jagger and Joā€™s story.

It was a light, easy to read, happy (for the most part), fun book to read. There was just enough angst to keep things interesting and the (as usual) incredible character development that makes you feel like youā€™re a fly on the wall, living in the world of these characters.

I donā€™t know if there are plans for this book to be a series, but I hope it ends up being one. I would love to follow Jaggerā€™s brothers and find out how their stories play out. I obviously want to know about Misty, Joā€™s sister, too. Both of these families just seem so real and so loving, even if flawed, that you canā€™t help but want to know more.

What an enjoyable, pleasant read. Thank you for another wonderful book, Claire! Canā€™t wait for the next one.
