It was short and cute. Mae acted so childishly at some points. Can't wait to hear more of Fifi

Second installment of the Campers and Criminals series which I can see I will be blowing through thanks to Johanna Parker's narration. These books are oddly satisfying, probably because they remind me so much of the Southern Vampire series by [a:Charlaine Harris|17061|Charlaine Harris|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1399317093p2/17061.jpg]. Quirky community, odd characters, an anchoring every girl, in this case Mae West, newcomer to town.

These books satisfy every prerequisite for the cozy mystery. Death off page, regular citizen in the wrong place at the wrong time, gathering clues to solve a crime that no one else seems able to. Maybe I should say wrong place at the right time instead. I don't know, and I don't care. These are going to be comfort reads, and while they aren't in any way, shape or form literature, they are entertaining and satisfy my need at the moment.

Johanna Parker's narration is exquisitely suited and her delivery leaves little to be desired.

Mae now has a dog, so there's that to look forward to.

A fun little cozy mystery set in a Kentucky campground. This is book two of the series, and we see Mae, the Protagonist, settling in and things at the campground are looking good. (She had a rocky start in book one.) In addition to the mystery, there is the beginning of a romance, or two. Though it is totally clean and safe for teens and up. The characters are a mix of sophisticated (or snobby,) quirky, and those 'normal' everyday folks. There are a few new characters introduced, one in particular that tries to steal the show. ;) One is a blast from the part... good or bad, time will tell. The mystery isn't too complicated, but there is a slight twist in the reveal. It's easy to read and reads quickly. You do not need to read book one to follow this one... any relevant information is given.

*I volunteered to review an ARC of this book.

This second book in the Campers and Criminals series was even better than the first book! I love that Mae now has a cozy companion:) Can't wait to read the third book in this series.
