Honestly... this was pretty great. I think it's a really cool sequel to Blackest Night, and building upon the resurrection of the twelve heroes/villains really well with a neat mystery. It's a pretty clever idea for a bunch of B-list characters and an inventive way to give them the spotlight. Lots of questions are raised, and some are answered, only for more to be raised in their place. So apparently our characters were brought back to complete tasks for the White Lantern (and in return will be given their life back), but why them and why the specific tasks remains to be seen. The characters were pretty fascinating and I was interested in their individual plot points; Ronnie and Jason having to figure out have to work together after Gen's death, J'onn investigating the presence of another Martian on Earth with M'gann, Arthur (quick aside: the fact he can only control dead sea-life now is pretty cool) and Mera dealing with her sister's return, Carter and Shiera figuring out how to break their curse, and Boston, Hawk, and Dove just trying to figure out what the heck is going on while his ring takes him on a field trip across the universe. The other characters we haven't seen much of yet though. Speaking of Boston Brand, he was very interesting to read, his desire to just not be back was kind of funny and sad (haha, when the ring literally told him have a cheeseburger as a way to motivate him to live again), as well as how he is just resigned to the fact he has to do this. Plus, he is really cute (I normally wouldn't write something like this, but, he really is).

3.5. I can’t believe I wrote Deadstorm instead of Deathstorm in my update… in my defense it was like 10:00pm…
I liked this volume, but not as much as the first one. My favorite stories are Boston’s, Firestorm’s, Aqualad’s, and J’onn’s. I’m not a huge fan of Hawkman and Hawkgirl’s though. Seeing Kaldur’ahm’s origin is awesome! Love Boston’s jacket! I think his relationship with Dove is cute, but needs more fleshing out. It was cool seeing Mikaal.

Story was a great continuation of Blackest Night. Like the focus on lesser DC characters. Art suffered on some issues, like many long arcs like this with multiple artists do.

All I have to say is about the ending of the book, and that is 'oops'.

Technically I read this last year, but since I didn't mark it down then, I'm doing so now. I skimmed through it, to remember the plots. Having read most of the Blackest Night collection, this book (and the two that follow) are a continuation and resolution of the events.
