Amazing story, though nothing feels "fortunate" about it, instead heartbreaking. Hoping he continues the story. Lush, compelling, haunting and sexy.

In book two of Letters for Lucardo the story continues where we left off. Ed has fled the palace because of Lucardo's father. And so the story begins at the place where Ed is now working. Lucardo is fuming ofcourse and he quickly travels through town looking for his lover after falling out with his father about the matter.
Just like the first book Fortunate Beasts is illustrated in black and white. The illustrations seem more detailed and expressive and a darker vibe looms over the second book when it comes to how the scenes are illustrated. It's also quite funny and still very sexy.
After Lucardo proposes to Ed during a masquerade ball all seems well and positive for a bit. That is until Ed suddenly becomes ill. The book ends on a bit of a sad note, but knowing there will still be two books left i can't wait to see how the story continues.

Reread. I still thoroughly enjoy this series. I love watched Ed and Lucardos relationship develop as well as the world expanding to the reader.

I loved this graphic novel almost as much as I loved/in the same way as I love Saga! The art is beautiful and dynamic, the plot/intrigue are well thought out and slowly, teasingly disseminated. The erotic scenes are VERY EFFECTIVE. The banter is witty, flowing, and totally believable, and the betrayals are just as believably wounding. Usually with immortal vampire stories you see an ageless sexy vampire spurting their charm out on an unsuspecting young sexy thing - or something like that. So it was really enchanting and sensual to see that narrative flipped on its head, a young-looking but centuries old vampire making moves on an old-looking but far younger 60something-year-old man. Not to mention the playful power dynamic between them, twisting and exploding our world's existing racial realities to imagine a world in which a Black royal vampire prince steals the heart of an older white man/servant who thought his days of loving were over. It's been months since I read this, and I'm waxing pretty corny about it, but I felt inspired to come back and write a review...and I will be checking and rechecking to see when the next in the series comes out!
