I’m starting to think maybe I do like thrillers if they are done properly…
I loved the multiple pov which helped me dive into everyone’s secrets while still having an unreliability to the views, keeping me guessing. I also loved how the conclusion is still a bit open ended and I can come up with some of my own interpretations even though the big questions are answered!
TWs: SA, addiction, violence

I was excited to win this book in a giveaway. When I started reading, the prologue pulled me right in.  Someone is committing an act of arson to a family's home--- knowing that they're asleep inside. So, I settled in to get to know the Adler Family and find out why someone hated them so much.
The chapters alternate between the perspectives of each member of the family. Before I knew it, I didn't care for them much myself. Maybe that was what the author intended to happen, but I'm not convinced. I got the sense she wanted us to empathize with them, but I just found them mostly annoying.
While I didn't click with the characters, I enjoyed the plot enough to keep reading to get to what the blurb describes as "its explosive ending".  I found the adjective "explosive" to be way too generous.  I probably would've given the book 4 stars if the ending had lived up to the hype.
The author left some loose threads at the end as well, probably has a sequel in the works, but I would've preferred resolution.

Thank you Goodreads and Gallery Books for the opportunity to read and review an ARC of this book through a Goodreads giveaway.
