I've read my share of epistolary style writings and this was definitely different from others. I think the main reason I wasn't as keen on it was the use of emojis and gifs, but like the text representation rather than the actual thing. If there was a way for the ebook to have the actual visual component represented exactly as intended then I think it would have been an improved experience.

It was a weird one for sure.

I liked the unique fomat, I have never seen a book quite like it however, it did get quite confusing when it came to deciphering who was who and why they are relevant in the beginning. The constant use of spelt-out emoji names in the middle of sentances made some things impossible to understand in my opinion.

This was a bizarre read about someone getting sucked into the Slack server at work. 💻

Told completely via Slack messages, Gerald’s body is left in a coma-like state after his consciousness is somehow uploaded into Slack. From there, he must convince his coworkers that this isn’t just a ploy to WFH. And also maybe befriend Slackbot?

Several People Are Typing is a satirical Black Mirror-esque book with office politics, quirky coworkers, and witty work jokes. Since AI is seemingly taking over the corporate world, this seems quite timely.

I rarely recommend the audio version of a book over any other, but the full-cast audio version of Several People Are Typing is such a wonderful experience. Worth it if you've got less than 4 hours and space to laugh out loud while you listen.
