To me, Kate Reading’s is the perfect performance of Pride and Prejudice (the perfect novel) and it isn’t even close.

If you don't end up madly in love with Mr. Darcy by the end of this book, you're doing it wrong.

i had never read this before, and have never been much a fan of the movie I saw (when they ran across the field to each other I laughed, but I take it others swooned). Generally this time period is not my jam, but I wanted to read this finally.

I was pretty bored with all the comings and goings and aunts and uncles and such, but damn: the witty repartee! The scathing comebacks! If I could just have the dialogue I'd like it so much. Now curious to re-watch a movie version.

I mean, it's a classic for a reason. I found it a delightful read and once I got into it I was able to follow the story with ease. I found all the characters to be well-written and loved the dynamic between Elizabeth and Mr Darcy. Truly the original enemies to lovers. If you haven't checked it out yet, I promise it still holds up and as someone who has only read a handful of classics, I enjoyed it immensely. I will also likely be talking like they do in the book for weeks until the effect of the Old English wears off on me.
