Hey, if you’re looking for a very quick, short Harry Potter fix then this might suit your fancy.

It was serviceable enough for me but lacked sophistication, reading younger than the protagonists’ age, and in need of a good edit.

However, this had its charms, plenty of magic, a bad guy bent on world domination, and a conflicted love interest. It might tick off your boxes (and I’m sure I’ll read the sequel) but be forewarned - it ends on a cliffhanger and the next installment doesn’t come out till fall of 2024.

*Spoken in Hermione Grangers voice*
It’s bubble bubble toil and CUDDLE, not toil and TROUBLE!

Okay, so I thought this was actually super cute! I'm surprised by the low ratings here (although maybe that's why I liked it so much better than I expected?). I might just keep this in mind for an "underrated book" prompt in the future!

  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
  • Strong character development? It's complicated

  • Diverse cast of characters? No
  • Flaws of characters a main focus? It's complicated

Felt like a Harry Potter fanfic written on Wattpad by a 13 year old in 2013

4/5 ⭐️

This quick-read YA novella by S Frasher was a perfect palate cleanser & little boost out of my reading slump! The witty banter between the two MCs was fantastic, and the Harry Potter vibes were immaculate!

Cons: now I have to wait until next year for the story to be continued

The story reminded me of Little Witch Academia and Kiki’s Delivery Service. Very wholesome and targeted towards a younger audience. Really enjoyed the story line - I just wish it was one 300+ page novel - instead of being broken into smaller chunks. Not really necessary
