a fun read but didn’t have a whole lot of substance to it. felt a little predictable but did enjoy how Cordelia and Sophie’s relationship progressed. all in all a cute and quick summer read

This is a near perfect romcom, but more of a comrom. The dialogue was quippy and fun and it was a charming escape into contemporary English aristocracy. The romance definitely was a secondary (maybe tertiary) plot and my biggest complaint was that we got zero time with them as a couple, not even an epilogue. If you’re looking for something light and bubbly but not something romance heavy, definitely give this a go

I usually save 5 stars for books that like, profoundly impact my life in some way, but honestly, this book deserves 5 stars! I was CACKLING throughout the entire thing. The characters were so complex and funny, and the email correspondence was the icing on the wedding cake. HILARIOUS! What a beautiful and lighthearted story about friendship and life not always going to plan.

I received a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great concept for a romance book - weddings! secret identity! rich people! - and Birchall delivers a lovely little easy read. You fall in love with the characters and find yourself wishing you were at some of the weddings. Easily done, as Birchall adds little snippets of email chains throughout to give you an idea of the stress of wedding planning!

Another enjoyable pandemic read.

Sophie is basically a wedding planner who slips into the role of bridesmaid while secretly doing all the thousand things necessary for upscale weddings, including being emotional support for brides who are being pushed into Bridezilla mode by pressure.

Sophie is so good at her job that she doesn't advertise, which is convenient as she uses an alias every time. But somehow gets jobs. Until she gets the job from Heck, being bridesmaid to a bride who bypassed Bridezilla at the gate. Cordelia is an angry, combative member of a posh family, and Sophie finds herself playing the toughest role of her life. Doesn't help that Cordelia has a very handsome brother . . .

Really, the main thrust of this book is female friendship. The romance pretty much took backseat to the emotional twists and turns between Sophie and Cordelia. Which is not at all a bad thing! In fact, I found that part so absorbing that I was carried through the otherwise (sadly) predictable Dark Moment/Misunderstanding that romance writers always seem to need to shoehorn in at the 80% mark.

Thoroughly enjoyed the humor as well as the emotional arcs.

This book was an absolute delight. I requests from the brides were over the top and marvelous. This was much less a romance and more centered on female friendships.
