DNF’d @ 13%. The writing was just not grabbing me, I was zoning out completely. Other than picking up the audiobook’s narrators attempt at a Boston accent that left much to be desired.

I don't think I ever thought the gender apocalypse would have so much focus on being horny and how many times they would mention having sex. The men turning into ravaging dogs in heat pretty much but with the ferocity of a zombie t-rex's was plausible though. The author basing it off of a testosterone induced illness and how it effected even people with low testosterone (like with women with pcos) but some how the trans women who were getting their estrogen from eating balls weren't going into the crazes the other testosterone infected people were was a wee less plausible. I see what the other was striving for with the rhetoric of the story but, for me, I had to force myself to finish reading because it felt stagnant and uninteresting.

Listen I tried but the racism and fatphobia was too much for me. Also, if I've avoided reading a book for a solid week then it's probably time to let the cunt go. Just go read Brainwyrms by Alison Rumfitt.

constant descriptions of graphic SA, poorly-written main characters, and generally disliked the writing style (too many references to modern brands/pop culture, possibly issues w just the audiobook version, but shifting between multiple POV’s within the same chapter with no warning and often confused on if a line is being spoken or thought)

Gretchen Felker-Martin’s Manhunt is a raw, messy, and intricate work of apocalyptic fiction that transcends the trappings of the zombie sub-genre. It’s gory, gross, and utterly terrifying.

This was going to be a 3 star for me, I'm not a big horror fan. But that ending.
