This picks up where the TV series ends following the destruction of the Sunnydale Hellmouth. It's a slim volume and sets up some interesting plot lines. I'm still undecided about the graphic novel format.

Given how much my students love graphic novels, I've been trying to read some and understand the appeal. I loved the Buffy TV series so thought this might be fun. I really enjoyed furthering the Buffy story but felt the form limited the story telling.

An excellent continuation of the story line after the tv show. I love Buffy and this graphic novel really does the plot justice. An excellent read, and amazing art work.

*Spoilers*

I don't know how to feel about this one. So happy to be in the universe again, love that they made it more diverse and some storylines were great. Not loving the extreme focus on sex jokes and there's also some fatshaming happening.

Really liked the relationship between Buffy and Satsu, it felt very genuine and sweet. It's a shame that they erase bisexuality at the same time, the dialogue is awful regarding this. Willow is amazing as usual and such a complex interesting character. The flying is a bit silly, but great for the artwork. Dimensions, goddesses and magic is my cup of tea. I like that the comic let's the reader dive into the minds and motives of the scoobies. Looking forward to continue this journey.

My favourite part is probably Xander and Dracula, so much fun but also deep and obviously gay. The best chemistry. Xander's arc is compelling, but his dialogue is too much for me – stop with the sexism already.

Book Riot Read Harder 2017 #18: a superhero comic with a female lead
