I seriously enjoyed this return to Ellery! Like quite a few of RJ Scott's other series, the Ellery Mountain series is like the gift that keeps on giving. I loved the bond that JC and Adrian shared with each other, and I wouldn't have been surprised if they were soul mates. JC was Adrian's person, and vice-versa, and they'd already been through a great deal, the most traumatizing incident being the reason why they were at the Ellery Center. The author did a fantastic job weaving the romance with the more suspenseful elements. I honestly couldn't pin down who I thought the villain was until the last quarter of the book, yet I was still taken aback when the motivations for their actions were brought to light. Having some of the guys from the Sanctuary series now has me eager to get to know them better, so I'll be checking those books out once time permits. All in all, The Soldier and the Bodyguard had everything I enjoy in an RJ Scott story, and I'm handing it 4.5 stars.

Good series conclusion.
I really liked JC and Adrian. Their friendship had spanned their lifetimes and it was good to see a couple who were also once it was all out in the open, so comfortable with each other. They did have an issue at the start as both were hiding their feelings but I did like that they continued on as strong as ever regardless of the others feelings.
Adrian was in full protector mode, every thing he did was to make sure JC was safe and thriving. He lied to him about his condition when needed but it was done as a way to keep him positive and moving forward.
I liked that JC was a fighter, he knew he was a burden at times but also was working towards being as healthy as he could be.
The mother and father in this one were both terrible human beings, and deserved everything coming their way. I did like that the grandmother was redeemed. She came across as rude and arrogant in the previous book but it also came from a place of wanting the best for JC.
I loved seeing Daniel so protective of his centre and how the guys came to love it too.
Now I want to read the Sanctuary series, luckily I have the first 3 books already

JC has had to get used to a new norm, With a TBI and memory issues the only constant in his life has been his BF Adrian. When danger is around every curve Adrian needs to keep JC alive while trying to keep his feelings under wraps. But when sparks finally fly Adrian and JC are stronger together than just as friends. Can they danger be figured out? And once the danger has past will the romance still be valid? Emotional from the very first page with wonderful characters that the reader just wants to hug. One of the best stories in the series. Loved Adrian and JC.

There are a lot of emotions in this book. It's clear from the beginning of the book that Adrian would do anything for JC, including sacrificing his own happiness, in order to make sure the man is happy and safe. But due to circumstances that play out, JC is working on recovering from a horrific injury and Adrian is there to protect him from outside threats while still being his best friend and biggest supporter. The sweet way the story plays out, with both men finally admitting their feelings while unraveling the mystery, made me read this in one sitting.

JC & Adrian's story is beautifully heartwarming - the emotion and connection between the 2 men is just popping off the page.

The lies and deceipt from ''others" ( no spoilers) just makes the connection and their story so much better.

Love!! 5 stars!!

While I received this as part of RJ weekly newsletter serial, I knew I wanted to wait until it was done to read it.

It's one of the most dramatic narratives in the Ellery Mountain series and has a tie-in to her Sanctuary series too which brought an added bonus.

I loved both JC and Adrian and I felt the former's brain trauma was handled in a way which made sense.

The suspense element was perhaps a tad out there but not unbelievable as money makes people do horrendous things.

It's relatively low steam, which is understandable but very emotional and has all the feels.

I loved catching up with both the Ellery crew and the Sanctuary guys.
