  • Solid points yet not as ground breaking/smaller routine gathering applicable as I'd hope it'd be

I was surprised at how much I loved this book. The principles can be applied to so many different contexts that I felt this book could be a helpful resource for literally anyone who gathers people (1 or 10,000+) together for meaningful events.

I really enjoyed this book and reading it physically was definitely the way to go. I think Priya’s point around immersing people in the gathering translates well into the book - each story shared is really engaging and topical, so the reader is immersed in what’s happening.

I also liked how the acknowledgements weren’t at the end, because I do skip them tbh. I think it was a great connector to lead into the closing and continue on the theme of the book mimicking a gathering.

I learned a lot from reading this, and contrary to how long it took me to get through, it wasn’t hard to get through at all. I think a lot of the tips are helpful when thinking about bigger engagements (conferences, weddings, etc.) but I have a harder time figuring out how to apply them to smaller dinner parties. Not to say that it’s not possible, but I do think it’s a good way to self-reflect on what I’m willing to share/do to make a good gathering.

This was an interesting read but I’m not sure how much I really walked away from it though.

Definitely a lot to think about especially since I’m taking on some new work responsibilities soon regarding smaller group events/meet & greets.
