This was my second Neal Stephenson book, my first beinf Diamond Age, and I have to say- it was a much easier read than Diamond Age haha. The characters were funny and entertaining. Stephenson wrote a 15 year old girl so well, she was just the right amount of a jerk, as well as sweet and also tough!
Hiro is himbo vibes for sure, but we love him for it. I of course felt a bit bogged down at some of the longer historical context bits, but they definitely played into the plot so i cant be too mad about them!
The last few chapters were chaos and i loved it even though it was a rollercoaster!

Graphic: Adult/minor relationship and Violence
Moderate: Racism

Third time reading this book since the first time in 2004. It is still wonderful and absolutely worth revisiting.

An unexpected favorite!
Started reading this for book club, not sure what to expect. I absolutely loved it! Can't wait to read more of Neal Stephenson's work!

Okay now that I understand what the fuck is going on through the second re-read it's better. Though I ended up skipping Hiro explaining everything to Enzo et al because it was just summarizing everything else we already knew

Listened to this on his on Audible. Maybe 3.5 Stars.
Meh. The first few chapters were horrible. (Slightly better when I realized it was published in 1992.) I would’ve stopped listening, but I figured it would get better. It’s Neal Stephenson after all. It did improve. I guess. The central idea is interesting. It’s big. But mostly corny. A bunch of babble [pun intended].

It improved in the 2nd half but I wasn't a fan of the writing style.
Considering this book was written in the early 90s it was very good at predicting a lot of tech that we now all take for granted.

I picked this up on a whim, some times I couldn't put the book down other times it was m'eh. There is clearly an audience for this type of book but I dont think I am one for future similar books.
