A wonderful novel, and of great interest of the times. What does it mean to be a non-ideological rebel? Why so much time spent disavowing communism and homosexuality? So much is described in the virility of this figure. Emblematic of a certain strand of Black male revolutionary thought.

My friend recommended that I buddy read this with her. That didn’t work out 😂😂😂. But anyway, I enjoyed this book! It was definitely a change in genre to books that I am used to reading. I loved how raw the book was with showcasing the black experience & how classism affects us. This is a book I suggest every black person reads. I like that we get somewhat of a happy ending. I think the pacing of this book was great, it wasn’t too long, or too winded. I definitely recommend reading this book!
