I don’t know what to say about this book...

As always the writing is great, the character develop nicely and the flow is great buuuuuut I don’t like Colin at all.

He was one of my favorite characters in the previous books but in this he’s brooding and kind of mean. I mean both Anthony, Simon & Benedict where brooding and a bit gloomy too but that was who they were, it didn’t come out of nowhere. Colin on the other hand was described as fun and charming and kind in the precious books, so why did Quinn choose to take such a turn when it came to him? Perhaps to give him more depth? But for that to be done he didn’t have to have such a temper.

What I did LOVE about the book though is Penelope. She’s such a great character and she has evolved so much as a person throughout all four books!

Although not as exciting as the others, it was still endearing. This love match was a slow burn not a sizzle. I wished that we had more about each of them as writers. 2.5 stars

3.5. Cute. Nothing to complain. Nothing to write home about. A little disappointing probably. Expected more.

Yeah this sucked. Why did we have to get negative character development for Colin? Like the man learned nothing, except that he could be abusive and get away with it.

Though it suffered a bit from pacing, this was BY FAR the best Bridgerton offering (thus far). Penelope and Colin were the best and healthiest couple by far, and Colin and Eloise seem to be the only tolerable Bridgertons (this far).

My rating is definitely biased and my judgment is clouded. But this book deserves no less than three stars.
I love Julia Quinn, she and Lisa Kleypas are easily the best writers in this genre of regency era romance.
And there was a small moment of a crossover between their two worlds that made me giggle so much.

Overall I have mixed feelings about this book. Mainly because Colin was a bit weird, he was moody and just not what we expected probably. Not to say that he wasn’t still enjoyable to read (except for his moody moments). I think I just wanted and expected more of this book. I would probably give it four stars, but as I said, I’m rating this book emotionally and not logically.

This might be my favorite of the series so far! It was an easy read like the first but had the depth of the second. If it wasn’t for the Netflix series having spoilers I would’ve been quite shocked.

The extra star is for Penelope. The plot was boring, Colin’s mood swings became annoying and unnecessary. I was glad when the book ended tbh. As always the Bridgerton family banter is often the best part
