This book is frickin' hilarious. It was worth suffering through 50 Shades to be able to read it. I giggled maniacally for several hours while reading it.

I realized I don't enjoy reading this type of books. It was pretty original and creative but it seemed like a waste of time to read this.

If you read the first page, you know what to expect and you won't be proven wrong. It's a mediocore parody of Fifty Shades, of course, but there are a few really funny parts if you happen to know/like the popcultural things the characters are referencing to, such as Star Trek TNG or MLP Friendship Is Magic. The Data part was what made me give it four stars instead of three, I'm a hopeless Trekkie I guess.

I would have given this a higher rating if the author had stopped at 25%. I was laughing quite a bit in the beginning, but as the book progressed it was apparent that Merkin/Shaffer was trying too hard to be funny. OK, I get it, it's a parody, but repeatedly beating the fact that Anna Steal is dumber than a brick got tiresome quickly. If anyone wants to read this, I would recommend reading the first 15-25% and then putting it in the "did not finish" category.

2020 reread! This was great fun and just what I needed at this moment. I love all the references in the book from Twilight to well anything Tom Cruis (Earl Grey has a big man crush on him) and finding those references and then giggling in delight that the author used them. Anna is such a nitwit, I at times wondered how she knew how to breathe as she didn't seem to know the most basic of things. It amazed me she was able to live mostly on her own (with a roommate but given the roommate... I will count it as living on her own) and going to university.
The romance was silly, over the top and full of cliches and tropes and I loved it. It was meant to be parody so I don't mind the instant love this time.
Earl Grey was possessive and a tad mean and way too loaded (in more than one way) and didn't know that tailored condoms were a bad idea which had me in stitches. This guy, so full of himself, yet doesn't know that.
I loved that Anna was not impressed by his Fifty Shames and that he kept trying to convince her that he was an evil person, while she was just shrugging her shoulders and telling him they didn't live in 1950. :P
I am just sad there never really was a normal sequel to follow this one. I would have loved more.

Just wow.. wow.

I never will read the Fifty Shades books, but I was really interesting in a parody book about it.
And what a ride. Like I was reading some superhero comic that added sex and romance and silliness mixed together in one colourful blend.

Some things were just unbelievable, but all in all it was an interesting and fun read.
Loved the twilight references/parodies, really silly. Also finding/reading all the references/parodies was interesting. :)

I might even try the second book (whenever it comes out).

I would recommend it to everyone (though I wouldn't suggest it to people under 18, there are enough scenes that are quite graphic).

This was the silliest book I’ve ever read/listened to! I was laughing so hard- until I wasn’t. This is a parody of Fifty Shades of Grey. Earl Grey is a multibillionaire. Anna Steal is a naïve girl who stumbles upon him (quite literally) when she interviews him in place of her roommate who is sick. Earl falls for Anna and introduces her to his role playing game BDSM (Bards, Dragons, Sorcery, and Magick). She doesn’t know what he sees in her, but she’s willing to play along.
If you never read Fifty Shades of Grey this will probably be more annoying than funny. It reminded me of the spoof horror movies I’ve seen, but at least there the spoofs and jokes they have are fresh through the movie. They started feeling stale and stopped being funny about halfway through this book and I started wondering why I was curious enough about this to have wasted 4 hours when I could have been listening to something better.
